Description
You're hiking into the high country where the goats live — way up, above the treeline, where the air is thin and the trails disappear into sheer rock and scree. Each day is a climb, with 50+ pounds on your back and eyes glued to the cliffs above, glassing white specks that might just be your next move. The billies are still in their summer patterns, sunning on ledges and bedding where predators don’t dare tread. The challenge? Getting close enough for a shot without being seen — which means crawling across knife-edge ridgelines, crossing sketchy chutes, and sometimes bivvying on narrow shelves under a sky full of stars. By late October, the first snows begin to blanket the high peaks, pushing mountain goats down from the lofty cliffs to lower bluffs. As the rut approaches, nannies and billies start to converge, and some of the biggest, most elusive billies — usually tucked away in nearly unreachable terrain — descend to more accessible elevations to seek out nannies. When they do, things can heat up fast. The action gets intense as dominant billies clash, fighting hard for breeding rights in explosive, horn-crashing showdowns.

Please note that we cannot refund or roll state or government license fees, application fees, draw results, or tags.
